Who doesn’t want to have soft, pink and healthy lips? But the matter of fact, our lips hardly ever remain as they were used to be like in our childhood. With the growing of age ours lips started to get darker, dry and chapped, with some people even having to deal with dark grey or black lips! It can be quite a sore to look at, and chapped lips can even bleed. That is why it is important to take care of our lips... which thankfully is pretty easy.
Here are some Ayurvedic tips to deal with some of the most basic issues regarding lips!

Dry and chapped lips



As per Ayurveda, lips become dry and chapped when it get exposed in Sun, due to too much exposure in Sunlight or change in weather also causes dry and chapped lips. What we do not realise is that, lips can also become dry and chapped due to factors like less water intake as well as lack of vitamin A, B and C. Smoking or drinking alcohol could also lead to chapped lips. Here are some tips that can help:

·         Massage lips with an oil like coconut or olive oil regularly.
·         Even butter can also be applied on the lips, especially before sleeping.
·         Hydrate the body by drinking enough water.
·         Apply honey to cracked lips to heal them fast and make them soft.
·         Cut down or stop smoking and drinking alcohol.


Dark lips to Beautiful Lips



This could happen due to smoking too much, or even an allergic reaction to a cosmetic. Even cheap, low quality lipsticks can make the lips lose their natural colour. Stress can also take a toll on the lips, making them dark and dull. Applying lipstick can be a temporary fix… but can you really keep it on all the time? And what do you do if you’re a man? Here are some Ayurvedic tips to help regain the lost colour:

·         Rub lemon juice over the lips. But make sure the lips are not chapped as it could hurt.
·         Rub a piece of beetroot over the lips.
·         Cut down on smoking.
·         Avoid too much intake of coffee and aerated beverages.
·         Apply the cream of milk on lips regularly.
·         Drinking tender coconut water also helps.
·         Making a paste of almond and glycerine also helps in healing dark lips.
·         Scrubbing the lips with olive oil and sugar can go a long way in bringing back the colour.
·         Increasing the intake of amla in the diet can also boost the colour of the lips.

So, after following to some of these simple tips your lips will beautiful and healthy, long way in keeping your face looking young and make you smile worth of millions.
